Choose The Right Fresnel Screen for Your Projector
In the world of projection, the screen is more than just a surface - it's an optical instrument.
A high-quality projector can only deliver its best performance when paired with the right screen. For Fresnel projection screens in particular, this pairing is crucial, because the screen's unique optical design is made to receive and reflect light from a specific direction.
That's why Fscreen developed two distinct Fresnel screen series - Aura and Iris - each precisely engineered for different projector types.

Unlike traditional matte white screens, Fresnel screens rely on microscopic lens structures to control how light travels. These lenses direct the projector's light straight toward the audience while rejecting ambient light from other directions.
However, the lens orientation inside a Fresnel screen is fixed during production.
If the screen is matched with the wrong type of projector, the light will hit the screen from the wrong angle, and instead of being reflected toward the viewer, it will scatter or get absorbed.
As a result, users may notice:
The image becomes darker or uneven;
Colors look washed out or low in contrast;
The screen seems to "lose brightness" even though the projector is working normally.
This is why matching your projector with the correct Fresnel screen is not just a recommendation - it's a requirement for optimal performance.
The Aura Series is engineered specifically for UST projectors that sit just a few centimeters away from the screen. These projectors project light upward at a steep angle.

To handle this, the Aura Series features an optical layer with a precisely angled groove structure, designed to capture and reflect light that comes from below. At the same time, it blocks most ambient light coming from above - such as ceiling lamps or daylight.
This results in:
High brightness and deep contrast even in bright rooms;
Clear, vivid colors without the need to darken the environment;
Comfortable viewing at any time of day.
If you're using a laser TV or any ultra short throw projector, the Aura Series is your best choice for both home entertainment and commercial display applications.
The Iris Series is built for mid-to-long throw projectors that are installed farther from the screen, usually 2–6 meters away. These projectors project light directly forward, not upward.

To optimize this setup, the Iris's lens structure is aligned horizontally, guiding light straight to the audience while minimizing reflections from side walls or windows.
The results are:
Uniform brightness from edge to edge;
Natural color reproduction and excellent sharpness;
A cinematic experience ideal for home theaters, classrooms, or meeting rooms.
Using an Iris screen with a UST projector will cause the light to hit the screen from the wrong angle, reducing brightness dramatically.
Similarly, using a UST screen with a long throw projector will make the image appear uneven and washed out.
It's simple:
If your projector sits right below or right in front of the screen, it's Ultra Short Throw → choose Aura Series.
If your projector is installed a few meters away, it's Long Throw → choose Iris Series.
Still not sure? Check your projector's throw ratio:
Throw ratio ≤ 0.25 → UST (use Aura)
Throw ratio > 0.8 → Long throw (use Iris)
A Fresnel screen is a precision optical product - and like any precision instrument, it performs best when used correctly. Matching your projector type with the right Fscreen Fresnel screen ensures:
Optimal light reflection and brightness;
True-to-life color and contrast;
The wide viewing experience Fscreen is known for.
Choose wisely between Aura and Iris, and let your projector deliver the performance it was meant to.
